When Dr. John Thieszen was in the Air Force, he found that his job was not meeting his financial needs. So he started working locums jobs on the side. In his first year, he made more money working locums one or two weekends a month than he did in the entire year with his full-time job. In addition to the pay he has had the opportunity to bring his family on assignments with him.

“It’s been a real blessing for me both in terms of the time that I take my family with me on the assignments, that's been great and it feels like a work vacation,” said Thieszen.

“When I do locums and I’m able to have big chunks of time off in between, or sometimes I pack it in and then I can have a week or two weeks or longer off…doing locums has just been the greatest thing for my family.”
