Quick Facts

  • Mon – Fri, 7 am – 3 pm to 6 pm with surgical weekend call
  • Call schedule — 1-day call/week; weekend call 1:4 – 6 weekends
  • 70% inpatient OR first assist; 30% floor/ICU — no clinic
  • 1,100 cases annually
  • First assist — valves, heart transplants, VADs, MAZE, CABG
  • Avg surgery 1.5 hrs; standard CABG valve cases 2 – 2.5 hrs
  • 99% standard procedures — no robotic surgery
  • Post-op ICU and step-down unit management required
