More than 100,000 physician assistants are practicing in the United States today, and the career is expected to grow 38 percent by 2022, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Unfortunately, many people -- including those in healthcare professions -- have misconceptions about physician assistants and misunderstand the scope of their jobs. Here are just a few of them:
  • PAs are physicians' assistants and assist doctors in their practices
  • PAs cannot see patients without a physician on site
  • PAs do not provide the same quality of care as physicians do
