The reasons to try locum tenens are different for every physician, but for hospitalist Dr. John Thieszen it was a way to supplement his income. The financial benefit was not the only reason he chose to try locums — it also allowed him to spend more time with his family.
“I can think of a hundred different reasons to do locums and everyone’s got a few that will meet their needs,” he explains in this video.
Locum tenens opened new horizons for Dr. Thieszen, and though he was a little intimidated at first, he took the opportunity to pursue the career and lifestyle he wanted.
“There are so many great reasons to try locums, but you won’t know it until you try,” Dr. Thieszen says. “If you’re thinking about locums, find a good company and try it.”
