Finding a job as a physician has never been easy, but working with a staffing agency like us makes it a whole lot easier.
We’ll pair you up with a dedicated career consultant who knows your specialty inside and out, and they’ll guide you through every step of the process. They’ll even do the legwork for you — all while keeping your preferences and goals in mind.
In addition to digging through every physician job description to find what you’re looking for, your consultant is familiar with all the market trends and nuances you’ll need to find the best career opportunity. Our consultants stress about all the details that matter to you — so you don’t have to.
No matter what type of career opportunity you’re looking for, we can find it. We have job openings close to home and across the country, and some way outside the country. Here’s a few different career paths we can use to meet your goals:
Long-term staff positions
Full-time or part-time temporary locum tenens assignments
Telehealth and virtual care opportunities
International locum tenens jobs
Medical mission trips
Before anything else, our representatives get to know you and your preferences — where you want to work, what type of facility you like, whether you like day or night shifts, and what your salary needs are. They will even ask about your family needs, what you like to do in your free time, and what type of workplace culture you’re looking for — all to better match you with the right opportunity.
What’s more, all of CompHealth’s representatives are specialists in their specialty, which is a tongue-twister way of saying they understand the nuances of your specialty and can help you navigate the ins and outs of your specific market.
Our primary goal is to make the job search easy for you, and we’ll take as much off your plate as possible. Once your representative knows what you’re looking for, they’ll identify potential matches. If you’re interested in any of them, they’ll contact the facility, submit your candidacy, and set up interviews. They’ll even help coach you with interview tips if you’d like.
Once a facility makes an offer, your representative will help you negotiate your contract, get a state license if needed, and help complete credentialing paperwork. That’s right, less headache-inducing logistics for you.
We’ll do all of the legwork on your search, freeing you to focus on what matters most to you — like anything other than the legwork of finding a new job.
We have relationships with healthcare facilities nationwide, and sometimes, we even know about openings before they’re posted. Our representatives are also knowledgeable about market trends and rates, ensuring you have an experienced advocate willing to negotiate your contract on your behalf for the salary you deserve.
Physicians can use our services at no cost. That’s right, you’ll get a dedicated rep advocating for you and access to all the best jobs without paying a penny. So how do we keep our lights on? Facilities are happy to compensate us for finding top healthcare talent to help fill their gaps.

Locum tenens is when physicians temporarily fill in at a hospital, clinic, or practice when coverage is needed. A locum assignment could be as short as a day or as long as a year — some are full time, while others might be just a few weeks per month, weekends only, or on a recurring basis.
In some cases, a locum physician is filling in for a staff physician who’s taking a vacation or is on leave. In other cases, the physician is filling an ongoing need — either because the facility is in the process of trying to fill an opening or doesn’t have the resources to hire a full-time physician permanently.
Locum physicians practice medicine in the same way other physicians do. They see patients, perform procedures, and provide ongoing and follow-up care, just like they would anywhere else. But unlike anywhere else, there are many things locums don’t have to do — like attend staff meetings, sit on committees and task forces, or do administrative tasks for private practice. By acting in a temporary capacity, they’re able to focus almost exclusively on patient care.
At the same time, locum tenens physicians are also helping to relieve the physician shortage, improve patient care, strengthen medically underserved areas, and provide support during catastrophic events.
Physicians work locum tenens for a variety of reasons:
Supplement their income to pay off debt or save for retirement
Increase schedule flexibility
Improve their work/life balance
Try out different practice settings or locations before settling down
Slow down the pace before retirement or practice in retirement
Make time to go on medical missions or do volunteer work
Most locum tenens physicians are paid on an hourly basis, with rates that are often higher than those in a staff position. That’s right, locum tenens usually make more. When working with a locum tenens agency, pay is typically directly deposited weekly into your account.
Rates are determined through various factors, including demand for the specialty, location, type of facility, required skill set, patient load, and type of shifts (day, night, holiday, or on-call). If you work with an agency, your consultant will help negotiate your pay rate.
Below are the current average pay rates for several in-demand specialties. Keep in mind that when working with an agency, you’ll also receive housing, transportation, malpractice coverage, and assistance with paperwork.
