Her first assignment was in Michigan, where she had family support while she started her career. "I also worked with an experienced PT who really helped mentor me through my first few months as a therapist," Lia shares.

The Perfect Way to Escape Cold Weather

With her first assignment under her belt, Lia turned to her next adventure. She packed her car and headed for warmer climates. “I decided Michigan was way too cold and made the drive across the country to Arizona,” Lia explains. “I worked in my first skilled nursing facility and absolutely loved it!” Arizona provided several great experiences, and she met many wonderful people — including her current boyfriend and travel partner. "Lucky for me, my boyfriend is able to travel with me, so I have a permanent travel buddy," she says.

Jobs from Arizona to Hawaii

From the desert of Arizona, Lia then headed to an assignment in Hawaii. She relished the opportunity to wake up near the ocean every morning. “I was so lucky to experience the aloha spirit,” she shares. “This was one of my favorite assignments, because Hawaii is the most beautiful place I have ever been with amazingly friendly people!” Lia is currently working in Oregon, where she and her boyfriend spend their free time exploring the area with their two dogs. Lia says the key to having these unforgettable experiences is to keep an open mind when taking temporary physical therapy jobs. "Be flexible," she suggests. "Go into every assignment with an open mind and willingness to learn something new!" Check out our open physical therapy jobs to start your own adventure!
