Are Traveling Healthcare Providers Ready to Meet Growing Geriatric Demand?

They discuss the impact on the various healthcare settings and workload for providers as more and more senior patients need care. Shari Held writes, "...the first wave of the 78 million 'baby boomers' turned 65 in 2011. Each year for the next 18 years, many more will hit this mark."
From nursing to therapy, It's clear that having a workforce skilled in geriatric care is both a challenge and an opportunity. The need is rising quickly, but that means job opportunities will continue to grow.
Sandra Raehl, president of CompHealth's travel therapy division, comments in the article: "My greatest advice to current providers is to continue to expand your skills to be ready to meet the demand."
Whether It's cross-training in a variety of settings, pursuing a Passion for the care of our parents (or grandparents, or peers), or seeing opportunity in a boomer transition time, plenty of reasons exist for providers to gain exposure working with older patients. 78 million reasons, and counting.
